Where this format came from
The format comes from a webcomic panel in which a dog sits at a table with a cup of coffee while the room burns around it, calmly insisting everything is fine. It became the defining image of cheerful denial — used whenever systems, plans or entire industries are visibly on fire and someone in charge says not to worry. Our recreation uses an orange room, flame emoji and a calm dog emoji at a table-coloured block, with the famous line left for you to caption.
How to use it well
- The caption works best as understatement: the calmer the words, the funnier the fire.
- Name the actual disaster in a second line — vagueness kills the joke.
- Short top captions read best; save detail for the bottom line.
Example captions
- Top: “This is fine.” — Bottom: “The server migration is tonight.”
- Top: “This is fine.” — Bottom: “Inbox: 4,812 unread.”
- Top: “Totally fine.” — Bottom: “The deadline moved to today.”
